Greetings,

If you don't have Seesmic Desktop beta 6.3 - sign up here http://seesmic.com/team.html
Welcome to the preview version of our integration of Twitter Lists in Seesmic Desktop. We're very excited at our integration, and will look forward to your feedback in building additional features.

Accessing your Twitter Lists

In this preview version, you can access your Twitter Lists as a separate column in Seesmic Desktop.

Find
your Twitter Lists alphabetically under USERLISTS in the sidebar,
distinguishing your own list and other lists by the colored "t" icon.

Simply
click on one of the lists in the side bar and a column for that list
will appear. Please note that you will need to manually refresh the
list, as this counts against your API limits.

Twitter List appearing in the sidebar

Adding Users to your Twitter List

You can also add users to a userlist.

When clicking on the gearwheel "*" on the avatar of the person you wish the add

Select "Add to Userlist" and choose the Twitter List or Userlist to add.

Twitter List linked to open browser in messages

When a Twitter list appears in a message with the "@", it is linked to open the list in the browser.

Other notes for this iteration:

When adding a user to a Twitter List, it will take some time for Twitter to make the changes appear on Seesmic Desktop.

Viewing Twitter List - open columns with Twitter Lists are not restored when restarting Seesmic Desktop.

I realize that list refreshing counts against our API limit, but it's critical. ALL I want to see are my lists, and manually refreshing makes it pretty much useless.

That aside, it's a superb implementation of lists. Hope you can get them to auto-update in the next release.

I just want to echo what Mickey has said. I am very excited about the potential Lists have and their use in the Seesmic Desktop. However, having to manually refresh takes all the real-worl functionality out of the lists, the same reason i wouldnt use twitter if i didnt have seesmic. Auto refresh, or set to fresh every 15 minutes at the very least.....

Thanks for a great product and i look forward to the update.

Just give us an option on how many API resources to devote to lists. In my case, I'd give it 100%. For others, they could balance between lists, main feed, replies, etc. The sliders in TweetDeck do a decent job of that -- a similar solution (but with a bit more clarity) would be ideal.

Totally agree with Mickey. An API resources menu would be the way to tackle this problem, so for users like Mickey and myself, who pretty much only use Lists now, we can devote 100% of our API requests to List updates. Would that work?

LOVE twitter lists integration!

unfortunately, though, when i quit and relaunch seesmic desktop, seesmic does not remember what twitter lists i had open as columns, so i have to manually reopen them again.

that, plus auto-refreshing, and i'll be a very happy camper. this will make it much easier for me to keep my columns synched across multiple computers.

Great integration with one exception - could you set the lists up to tab under each category (those you create and those you follow). For those of us with an even moderate number of lists - it will allow us to only open category instead of the entire thing.

Thanks.

I'm excited about the possibilities for this new functionality. Kudos to Seesmic for being the first to roll this out. I thought it would take much longer for one of the desktop clients to do that!

My first reaction is to the organization of the Twitter lists in the left column. Because I manage two Twitter accounts in Seesmic, I have more than 20 Twitter lists in addition to the User lists I had previously set up. I would love to be able to see the Twitter lists for only ONE account at a time. When you open up the drop down and see them all lumped together, it takes up the entire side bar. Also, as others have said, it might be nice to divide it even farther to the lists you created and the list you follow that others created.

Auto refresh would be nice, but it's not a total dealbreaker for me.

All in all, great functionality!

Just noticed that my list columns only certain number of tweets and that this corresponds to what is shown when viewing the list on the web via twitter.com - the only difference is that on the web there is the option to load more tweets. Is this just me? API? or limit in this iteration?

Seems to lose my columns on shutdown for my twitter lists. So set up detached columns from the home for some my favourite lists, close seesmic and then on re-opening I just get my manual userlists. The twitter list columns are all closed. Kind of annoying.

Reiterate as well the auto refreshing of these lists would be much better.

On the whole fantastic thought, so much easier to manage on multiple machines and well implemented too.

Just adding more support for auto-refresh of list columns (but only when they are display) and remembering and re-opening list columns as they were on shutdown of Seesmic. Thanks for the new capability - it is great but I'd like to switch over as Travis suggests.

Just a thought for a new capability for Seesmic - create the same functionality for FaceBook using FaceBook lists - no idea how feasible this is but it would be wonderful to have the same ability to set all the lists in FaceBook and not have to maintain them again in Seesmic.
